The Trevor Wade Daniel Foundation combats childhood cancer and its effect through building awareness, funding research, inspiring hope and supporting patients and families. The foundation provides support primarily through social work departments at DFW and Austin area children’s hospitals.
Trevor was the easiest kid to hang out with whether we were building with Legos, watching movies, making pizzas, building forts, fishing, or hitting golf balls he was just the greatest kid and we loved being with him. He was mostly quiet and reserved but also very funny at times when he got to know you. He was a very thoughtful and loving brother, son, and friend to everyone. It was not uncommon to find a note of encouragement on your desk or bathroom mirror telling you that he is thinking about you and wishing you a good day. He loved his animals (dog, cats and fishes) and being outside where he liked to camp and cookout.
Through our journey with him, we watched him manage his doubts and fears better than any of us could have imagined. He carried a heavy load for a twelve-year-old but never complained or asked "why me?" He went about his daily schedule without missing a beat, simply taking his chemo or medications in between school work and baseball practice or having a friend over to hang out. He never let his condition dictate his day or attitude and in most instances, he wore a smile. He bravely faced each challenge and relapse with a determined spirit and stoic attitude that was an inspiration to all of us. What a brave young man.
We feel blessed and enriched for having had him in our lives but for just a short period of time and we look forward to the time when we will see him again.
